Lantern Hollow
★★★★★ 4.7
Lantern Hollow is quiet, gorgeous, and a little melancholy. You explore a hand-drawn village solving light-based environmental puzzles, and there's almost no text — the story comes through the art and the way the world slowly brightens as you progress.
The puzzles are gentle but clever, mostly about redirecting light and timing your movements. Nothing here wants to frustrate you; it wants you to slow down and look around. We finished it in a couple of sittings and immediately missed it.
This is the one we hand to friends who say they don't like games. It's calm, self-contained, and never once asks you to buy anything mid-story.
